Custom Epic not being recognised as Epic

We had a custom Epic set up to help us add extra info that we wanted to capture, however when I've gone to enable the Roadmap Beta feature under the Kanban boards, it says we don't have any epics. 

We also have an Epic (Legacy) issue type which we're note using.

Is there an easy way to get the custom Epics recognized as Epics?

Unfortunately, this isn't a Roadmaps issue, this is a Jira Software issue.  Jira Software doesn't let you have another custom issue type that behaves like an Epic.  You can kind of get around this, but it won't have the full functionality that an Epic does have.
