Custom field with Epic Link Properties

Hello everyone,

I created a Custom Field based on Easy Links for Jira | Atlassian Marketplace.

But it has its limitations, like it cannot be displayed in a two dimensional rich filter like the Epic Link can.

No doubt Epic Link being a default of JIRA has a tone of code behind the screens that does, Linking issues without it being visible on the Child issue, Display on dashboards etc.

So finally we get to my question, is there a way to replicate in an "ugly" way the same properties that the EPIC LINK field has entirely?
