Good morning,
After a customer sumites a ticket via the Service Desk portal, I want to add some additional comment boxes on the "confirmation" page they get. By default, it's pretty bland and I wanted to add some text as "Thank you for submitting your request. We will be in touch shortly." or something like that.
I know the customer gets an e-mail, but I want to do this in addition to that. Where could I configure that?

You can edit the customer notifications to add more information.
Another option would be adding an automated comment using Automation for Jira.

The links are for cloud, but DC should be very similar for this scenario.
