Customizing what is shown in Affected Release and Component fields:

As we do have many releases and many components for issue submitter to choose, the dropdown lists or Affected release and component fields are long.

Is there a way to customize what is shown in the list, i.e. submitters to only see what we want them to see and also apply an order to have most important items to show at the to[ of the list as well possibly add a custom header for subset of the items in the dropdown list:

Ex: many releases: R1, R2, ... Rk, Rn , many components: C1, C2, ... Cl, Cm

Affected Release should show:

Current Release:

R5

Released:

R1

R2

R4

Unreleased:

R3

...

Rn

or simply show:

R5

Components should show only a selected subset (and not all)

C1

C8

C5

Hi @Hassan Mahini -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

Short answer: no, that is not possible as you described

The version list can be reduced by archiving old versions.  For both versions and components, there are several suggestions to limit the drop-down lists to the scope of the project.  I did not notice any suggestions to make the lists fully configurable by user-selection criteria.

Regarding components, perhaps consider why you have more values than desired and if there are other mechanisms in Jira to better represent the information they convey.

Kind regards,
Bill
