Dashboard Groups - Where are they coming from???

I am trying to understand where the Groups derive from on the List of Values for Add Shares?

Ours does not seem to have any logic and are excluding many groups.

We are running 6.4.1 JIRA and 2.5.2 Crowd which syncs with AD. I am seeing groups not in our JIRA groups in AD showing up. I am not seeing those I need to add however.

Question is, where does this field look for the values (groups)?

It looks at the full list of groups you have available in ALL the directories you've connected.  It then filters out groups you are not part of, as you should be a member of any group you will share with.
