Database technologies has to be same while importing project from backup?

Utkarsh Singh July 19, 2021

I am currently working on consolidating two jira instances. Have to merge JIRA2 to JIRA1

JIRA1:

version: 8.7.1

Database: Postgres (v11.2)

JIRA2:

Version: 8.7.1

Database: MSSQL (2014)

I am following the steps mention on below link:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/merge-multiple-instances-of-jira-server-244352137.html

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/restoring-a-project-from-backup-861253833.html

Its says that jira version needs to be same on both the instance, but nothing is mentioned on the database. What if both the jira instances using different database technologies? What if technologies are same but versions are different?

Any suggestion on this will be helpful.

Thanks!!

The export is database-agnostic, it doesn't matter what the database it came from is, or what it is going into.
