Date format for English(UK) doesn't change

Hari Prasath P

I have changed language to English (UK) in both user and system language preferences. But the date format remains same as English (US) format. Does English (UK) and (US) use the same date format or any settings to be changed?

English UK and English US shows same format.

Hello @Hari Prasath P

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I believe you have configured your site default language under Jira Settings > System > General Configuration and expect your date fields to display the date and time in the format commonly used in England. Is that correct?

Actually, the date formats are not impacted by the language selected for your system. In fact, the default language selected under General configuration is only applied for grammar and spelling on your site, and only for the users who didn't select a language for themselves on their own profile.

This behavior works as intended since a single country can have multiple date formats commonly used, not defined by the language itself. If you would like to change the format used for your date and date/time fields, you can change it on the look and feel of your JIRA site as described in the documentation below:

Configuring the look and feel of your Jira application

Additionally, you can check more details about this feature in the documentation below:

Hey @Petter Gonçalves

Our Jira is used globally between Europe and US. Each user should have a way to choose their preferred format - both in pure date format and also which day is the start of the week.

Moving forward, what about Arabic countries, where weekend is on Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday? See this
