Default Text - Team Managed Jira

When I enter some default text to appear in my EPIC issue type in team managed jira the default text is not appearing when I select the EPIC issue type.

I am seeing the same in my Free environment. If I make the field visible in the Create Issue dialog then the default value is not displayed for a Short Text custom field. Default values are displayed for a custom Number field shown in the Create Issue dialog.

I recommend that you open a support case directly with Atlassian on this and report back here with their response.
