Hello,
So I want to have a template (a table) for the description of a specific issue type on a specific board (Company managed). I went into "Field Configurations" then "View Field Configuration", searched "Description" and it shows a lot of screens. If I click Edit, it goes to this screen:
The problem is, I don't want this to apply to all the screens, just to one. Screens refer to the board they're used for, right? I only want it on one board.
Also, does it have to be coded in? I'm not sure I know the exact coding to write in the box for it to give me the table I want. Any tips?
Thanks!!
No, the description/default text is not board dependent.
Boards are just a view of tickets in Jira based on the filter the board uses. They can be anywhere in Jira. The create screen is just a set of fields you see when creating the ticket (there are 3 screens, Create, Edit, and View - for each issue type, though they're often all the same).
What you're editing here is basically tiny help-text below the field. It does not support tables. You can add default text inside the field, but that's done through the Contexts and default value area. Adding a table will mean there is always a table in it, unless someone goes into the field later and deletes it (for each ticket the field configuration is set to control)
This explanation is probably a bit confusing, but in summary - you can't do what you're asking for where you are now. It's also going to apply to a whole project (issuetype+project, at a minimum).
I've edited this a few times because it's a bit complicated to explain. Hopefully it gets the idea across though. You can't make a board-depending screen change, it's broader than that, and it impacts the ticket long term
