Default the due date in JIRA?

We are using JIRA and JIRA Agile and as such the due date field, which is required and which we have been advised not to make optional, is more or less meaningless.  We set due dates for projects and phases externally and we set due dates for stories and tasks as we pull them into sprints in JIRA Agile.  We'd like to pick a date well out into the future and set all our due dates to that date.  Is that possible?

If you have access to the workflow, you can update the "Create Transition" to automatically populate the "Due Date" field with whatever value you wish.
