Default vs custom transitions

Darren Bryant November 30, 2018

We have a Kanban JIRA project (old not next-gen) and have set up buffers within columns (driven by Status').

On those statuses' we have transitions that have custom screens to help the team constantly think about the board policies.

However, when we transition things, there appears to be a default "Transition to" option and the custom "Status to Status" transition. This is illustrated in the image below, the highlighted transition is the desired one with the screen and policies.

I want to remove or hide what appears to be a default transition option, however, I don't appear to be able to find any option for this.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello Darren,

Thank you for raising this question.

The transition that you would like to remove (Transition to) is configured when you flag the option "Allow all statuses to transition to this one" in the Workflow Status. This option adds a transition from All Statuses to the one you have selected.

That being said, the only way to remove this transition would be to remove the "All" transition from this one by clicking in the status and unflagging the box:

P.S: Note that it will block other statuses to be transitioned to this status too, so you will need to configure specific transitions to perform this actions as you did with Backlog to Selected for Delivery.

For more information about it, please check the documentation below:

Please, let me know if this clarifies your question, Darren.
