Deleting a status tied to a read-only workflow

I'm cleaning up a list of statuses in Jira.

I would like to Delete the status Reopened:

Reopened is associated with an Inactive, Read-Only Workflow (that was apparently updated in 1969):

Given this association, is there a way for me to delete the Reopened status?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You've hit an archaic bit of Jira history here.

Jira 1 had a fixed workflow, and in Jira 2, it became the default.  Atlassian have never removed it (I would like to think that is because it is a good example workflow, including stuff about getting resolution right and stopping people commenting or editing closed issues, but I am not sure)

But, we can not delete status that are in use, and because of that workflow being in use, it stops the delete.

You can not delete that status, it is in use.  But you can rename it or run through your projects and stop them using it.

(The 1969 thing is to do with epoch dates, it really means the Unix base date - the millisecond it changed from 31st Dec 1969 to 1st Jan 1970)
