In Jira Cloud documentation I've read that it is possible to add 'Dashboard item' (https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/modules/dashboard-item/), on the other hand I've found article stating that external gadgets on Jira Cloud dashboards were removed in 2017 (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/removing-unsupported-external-gadgets-from-jira-cloud-913478123.html).
What are external gadgets and how they differ from custom dashboard items?
Can Jira Cloud dashboard items be embedded in Confluence Cloud?
Hi Bartłomiej,
I created a new question from your comment since it was a new topic. This will best help users if they have a similar question to yours. Thank you for understanding.
External Gadgets are Jira Dashboard Gadgets that get their information from an external site. Therefore, in Jira Cloud, you won't be able to add gadgets that use their information from a site other than the Cloud instance itself.
It is possible to add various Jira Gadgets into Confluence. Have a look at this:
This article will discuss the list of Jira Gadgets that are available to be added to a Confluence page.
Please review that and do let me know if you have any questions about it.
Regards,
Shannon
Thank you Shannon,
There is something I do not understand.
I already have Jira Cloud Addon (like BigPicture) which descriptor defines generalPage module referring to domain different than Jira Cloud instance - addon service domain: bigpicture.softwareplant.com.
If I extend existing Jira Cloud Addon (like BigPicture) by dashboardItem module which is referring to the very same page this addon generalPage module already use, then this dashboard item will be recognized as External Gadget, because it's not referring to the same domain Jira Cloud is in?
