Different Permissions per Issue Type (Schedule Permissions)

Markos Stefanou March 23, 2018

Hello, I've been trying (with no avail) to stop users other than the Project Leader from prioritizing issues in the product backlog.

I can do it project-wide by removing them from the Schedule Issue permission, what I am required to do is stop them from doing so in a specific issue type, without disallowing them any viewing or other permission,

Any idea?

You can't do it by issue type directly, the permission is a project one.

In theory, you can though - if you have one workflow as you do now, copy it, and then add "workflow properties" to each status that block all but the project lead.

However, think it through - if a user can prioritise ABC-123 (bug) but not ABC-456 (issue), then they will not be able to move either of them.  They need to be able to prioritise both in order for the ranking to be done.  "Rank ABC-123 over ABC-456" is the same permission as "Rank ABC-456 below ABC-123", and you've disabled it.

So, I'm afraid your requirement is actually nonsense, unless you have boards that are separate and select only issue types people can rank.

I expected as much.

How would you stop someone in a workflow from using a single permission that's normally assigned to him? "Schedule Permission" in this case.
