Differentiated license for Tempo Planner

Carsten Schwartz Nielsen March 4, 2022

We want to user Jira for resource planning to make an overview of remaining hours and remaining work load on specific people in development.

Tempo Planner has been considered for this, but we do not intend to pay licence fees for the 'viewing' part of our Jira Users that not actively are using the features from Tempo Planner.

How can we get a differentiated license, where for example 20 out of 65 users are paying and using Tempo Planner?

The full Licence mind set are making us drop the App currently. This is also the case for other apps in the store, and the consequence is that we not consider these apps for our enterprise operations.

You can not do this. The subscription for an app needs to match the highest number of people you have subscribed across the three applications.

If, for example, you have 25 Core (JWM) users, 5 Service Management agents, and 65 developers on Software, then apps will be licences at 65.

Problem is that the:

  • 25 Core (JWM) users
  • 5 Service Management agents

Also are Jira users that can view the status of the items they have helped create/refine. So  in the example you mention I would have to pay for 95 licences, IMO it must be possible to enable the License on the user level, making a group that are allowed to use the app like in the normal project permissions, where we have goups that are allowed to use certain parts of the system.
