Hi Kim,

The property you mentioned of

atlassian.upm.server.data.disable=true

is a property that you can setup in the Jira startup options to prevent the UPM (Universal Plugin Manager) in Jira from sharing analytics data with Atlassian.  This property is explained in detail in Configuring Marketplace connectivity: Disabling analytics information sharing.

In this case, where this property gets added to will be different depending on if you're running Jira in Windows or a Linux environment (start-jira.bat vs start-jira.sh) and then again if you're using Windows whether you're starting Jira via the bat file, or starting Jira via a Windows Service.  How to change these settings in each location is explained in the link above of Setting properties and options on startup.

If you are concerns about what data your Jira application might be sharing, I would refer to you to our Data collection policy.  It explains what data that Jira itself is collecting (outside the UPM itself), as well as steps you can take to disable this additional analytics sharing if you wish.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions about these steps.

Andy

I just read in another post that it can also be added to the jira-config.properties file in Jira home directory. Is this correct?
