I have been moving some JIRA tickets from being child tasks to just regular tasks using the "Move" feature. After the "migration" is completed, the ticket disappears from the board, and I can't find it even after searching for it by its ticket number. How do I recover this lost item?
Hi @Nathaniel Powell
Welcome to the Atlassian Community.
You can try checking the board's filter to make sure it includes the new tickets you changed from child tasks to regular tasks.
Specifically, check to see if the statuses "Done, in progress, or to-do" are checked. If one of these is checked, it may seem like some of your tickets have disappeared when, in fact, they're simply filtered out. This may also explain why you don't see these tickets when you try searching for the ticket by number.
Let us know if this helps,
Michael
Hello @Nathaniel Powell
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Are you working with issues in a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? That information can be found at the bottom of the panel on the left when you are viewing the project's board, or on the View all projects page under the Projects menu.
When you say "child tasks" do you mean sub-tasks?
Can you show us the issue types available in your project (from the Project Settings pages) and point out the original and new issue type for these issues that you are "moving"?
Can you provide screen images showing us the steps you go through to move such an issue? You don't have to complete the move process - I'd just like to see the screens you are going through.
