Disassociating a filter to a Jira Board

Jeff Murray July 12, 2023

Hello -

I am cleaning up our filters in Jira software version. I want remove the filter from the project board and not associate it with another filter. However, I don't see an option to just delete the filter.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi @Jeff Murray - To make sure I understand the question, are you saying that you want to have a project board with no underlying filter?  That's not possible because the filter is what drives the project board.  Your project board would become useless without a filter so you'd simply delete the project board.

So, if your goal is to retire that specific filter, you'd need another filter to drive the project board.

Hi,

You can't do it because a board is a representation of a set of issue. So a board need a filter to exist.

@Jeff Murray

Hi,

If you want to erase the filter from your table, then this is strictly impossible. You can still change the filter of the table if it does not suit you. If, on the other hand, you want to empty the tickets of your jira instance, it is preferable to make a mass removal. for this you need the global permission "Make bulk change"
