Currently, when an issue moves to a new status, I want certain fields to become visible for that particular issue. For instance, when an issue moves from 'In Progress' to 'Review,' I'd like to display fields such as 'Review Comments' and 'Reviewer's Name.' However, these fields should remain hidden if the issue is in any other status.
How can I achieve this workflow customization in Jira? What steps, settings, or plugins should I utilize to ensure that these fields are shown only when an issue transitions to a specific status? Are there any best practices or potential considerations I should keep in mind while implementing this feature?
Hello @Imoh Akpaetok
if you are talking about purely about transition - you can use transition screen (not possible in team managed projects). But this means the fields are visible only in the time of moving the issue to "Review".
If you want to see those values in the View of the issue, I dont think its possible to hide the fields based on the status of the current issue OOTB. You could put the custom fields in the View screen which wont show unless they have some value.

@Tomáš Vlach I would like the fields to be visible when the issue transitions to the 'Review' status. I don't want them to pop up during the transition; I simply want them to be present so that once the review is completed, the user can conveniently add the necessary comment

If you don't want the fields to pop up during the transition screen, then what do you mean by "want them to be present once the review is completed"? Where else do you want to see the fields?

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- I would like the fields to be visible when the issue transitions to the 'Review' status. Rather than a pop-up, I prefer these fields to be readily accessible when I click to expand the issue.

So you want to see the fields during a transition, but not during a transition?
I'm sorry I am not understanding what you are trying to do, but the fact is that the pop-up transition screen is the only way to ask for field input during a transition.

There is no issue here, you just need to add the fields to the transition screen if you want to edit them during a transition.
