Do I have to manage plugins/addons separately for JIRA Core and JIRA Software?

So it will save us money to have our non-technical users (viewers) as JIRA Core users ... but what additional maintenance, if any, would I be taking on if we start using JIRA Core for our non-technical users to see what's going on in our "JIRA Software" projects?
