Do you know what the file upload limit is for Jira issues? regarding storage?

I need to attach several videos in Jira and Confluence, I need to know if there is a storage or upload limit, currently my company has the standard plan on both platforms.

Hi @Miriam Cam 

You can check the attachment settings in your instance to see what Attachment Size is configured. The default (per file) is 10485760 bytes (10 MB). The maximum attachment size (per file) is 2147483647 bytes (2 GB).

Out of the box there isn't, you might need to check third party add ons on Atlassian Marketplace for example - Attachments Checker for Jira/Confluence, through which you can limit certain file types.

Do you have any specific knowledge about possible outcome of changing default setting for file size?

Is any harm other than backup file size possible?

Is such setting, similar to new custom fields, considered as performance killer for Jira?

Atlassian have defined some guardrails eg: 10MB per single attachment/ 3000 attachments per issue. Operating above these guardrails, may cause issues like -

• Issue view loads slowly.

• Load on shared home filesystem (for example, while loading of thumbnails)

• Issue operations (such as view, update) or post-processing can trigger serialising the issue with all the issue properties, including all issue attachment properties.

Apart from this there are no major performance issues as long as the disk where your attachments are stored, has good I/O disk speed.
