Document Approval template - how to create a filter

Hi,

I wanted to create a dashboard that would use data from two projects. One of the projects was created using the document approval template - only it doesn't look like you can create a filter using this project. Is that correct??

Note:  the Reports that are available for the project ask for a filter so this means they won't work for the project.
