Does Encrypting the DBconfig.xml password cause jira to load slower?

Lately I have encrypted the dbconfig.xml password (following these steps: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracore/basic-encryption-975040998.html) which are the steps for Basic Encryption.

Since we have encrypted the password successfully it seems like jira loads slower. Could encrypting the password be the cause of a slower instance?

Encryption always imposes load on a process, so yes, it will be making everything slower.  But not noticably, and the slight load it imposes would not make pages load any slower.  If you could measure the extra time something takes, it would appear in the time between "user asks for page" and "server starts to give page to the network", not the actual load of the page.

We have tested it for a while and now decided to get rid of the encryption as JIRA is much slower since adding the encryption and when deleting it, JIRA runs much quicker.
There is a feature from Adaptavist in the marketplace which might give us the solution that we desire: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1215791/encryption-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=datacenter
