Does JIRA provide for automating housekeeping of JIRA backups?

Hello,

JIRA has been happily backing itself up on a 12-hourly basis since it was installed at my company ~3 years ago, since this was automatically set up as part of the installation. These backups now occupy a large amount of disc space!

My question is whether JIRA provides any way of setting up housekeeping for this, e.g. an age/number of backups you can specify after which a backup is deleted?

Many thanks, Lesley

No.

It expects you to set up housekeeping for yourself - there's no way it can cater for the range of operating systems, backup requirements, or sizes of system covered by every client, so it relies on your business defining the rules and monitoring the backups.

It's probably best to check with the business, then implement something using whatever your standards are.

Thanks for your quick response, Nic. I suspected as much but thought it worth asking.

BR, Lesley
