Does anyone else feel that these 10 UX changes in Jira/Confluence are utterly frustrating?

Falk Rüther July 30, 2025

I've tried to give the new UX a fair chance – but from a daily user perspective, it's becoming unbearable. I'm curious if others share the same view. Here's what I find extremely frustrating:

  1. No way to opt out – we're forced into the new design without consent.
  2. Visually overloaded UI – too many icons, inconsistent spacing, distracting layout.
  3. Key functions are now buried – things that took 1 click now take 3.
  4. Readability has dropped – odd font sizes, clumsy spacing, hard to scan.
  5. Workflows feel slower – more effort for simple tasks, loss of efficiency.
  6. Browser lag – noticeable performance drop, especially with larger boards.
  7. Different behavior across browsers – things break or disappear depending on Chrome vs. Firefox.
  8. Navigation logic is a mess – harder to jump between Backlog, Epics, and Sprint views.
  9. Mobile experience is worse – barely usable on tablets or phones.
  10. No visible benefit – it’s change for the sake of change, not actual improvement.

Am I alone in this? Or do you feel the same?

Hi @Falk Rüther

Yes, it can definitely feel a bit frustrating, especially since we are already used to the old UI.
However, you can share your feedback directly with Atlassian using the link below, they are actively collecting input to improve the new navigation experience for everyone:

Hope this helps!
