Does anyone have experience linking multiple issues (features) to one issue (change request)

Hi All,

I have to link ("Relate to:" field) multiple features to a change request issue on a weekly basis.  I want to write a pythons script that takes the Jira ID for multiple features in a excel spreadsheet column, and automatically links them to a Change Request issue ID. 

I cannot find documentation that outlines how to link issues to another issue in Jira / via a spreadsheet. Can someone share documentation with me to get me heading in the right direction?

I've used scripts to integrate Jira with spreadsheets, but I ran into maintenance issues. In case you'd consider other solutions I'd recommend integration with Smartsheets which works pretty well in general. They (Smartsheets) helped me set it up and they were very helpful.
