Does anyone know if site-admins count towards the total number of Jira Product Discovery licenses?

As December 4th approaches and the end of Beta testing for Jira Product Delivery approaches, we want to reduce the number of "Creators" who consume licenses to three so that we can move to the Free Plan. However, it seems that Site Admins and Org Admins consume a license automatically which cannot be taken away. We have 10 Site Admins so we will not qualify for the Free Plan unless Site Admins are not included in the license count.

Does anyone know if Atlassian will count Site Admins (and Org Admins) for the Free Plan?

Hi @Adam_Sterrie 

That depends upon how the permissions are configured.  The default configuration is site admins count toward usage.

Please read this article; it has a specific section to explain how to remove the site admins.

Tips:

• I recommend reading that entire article before making changes.  That saved my last company some headaches without breaking things that can only be fixed by Atlassian support.
• Leave at least one site admin with Creator access.  Even though it costs a license it will be less hassle to help the Creators solve problems.
• As of about six months ago, the default product configurations forced new users to be added for some form of JPD access.  The fix for that is to contact support so that they can remove JPD from the defaults.  At that time, there was no way for org or site admins to do that themselves.

Hey Adam,

I believe that they are included in the license count, as I've been managing site-admins this morning, which freed a license in my Atlassian products.

However, happy to be corrected if that's not the case, as it would be a very welcome correction!
