Does anyone know of an easier way to assign due dates to checklist items?

Currently, the built-in checklist editor is clunky and not very user friendly. I have to go to edit checklist and then click on the calendar to edit due dates for each item. I was hoping Jira would have features similar to checklists in Trello, which were very helpful and easy to use.
