Does the expected control chart behavior exclude closed and resolved tickets?

I am reviewing our control chart for historical issue analysis, issues that during the period in question were worked on actively i.e. 'in progress', and later moved to 'done'.

After release these issues were then moved to `released` which is an un-mapped state, of course we don't want these issues to sit around on our board forever.

The problem now seems that when I try to analyse this period using the control chart, it doesn't take in to account these `released` issues, so I can't get any figures for historical periods.

Is this expected behavior or should we consider this a bug? (or user error) It seems that a historical view of the control chart should be a common use case - without having to keep issue in a mapped status?
