I am transitioning industries and have been trying to get different certifications to facilitate breaking into video games. As I look at the options for "Managing Jira Projects" certification, I see that there are two possibilities - ACP-610 for Data Center/Servers and ACP-620 for Cloud. Is there one that is more used in the gaming industry?
If so, it would help me decide on which to choose.
Thank you in advance for for any advice/guidance!
Hi Mercedes,
In general, I'd say the choice of Cloud Vs on-premise is not industry specific - unless you're talking about a highly regulated industry (finance, medical, pharma, insurance, government etc where there may be a reason to be less Cloud first). Other reasons for being on-premise Vs cloud might be due to the size or complexity of the organisation where DC is ahead (in some measures) of what Cloud can support.
There is definitely a trend towards Cloud over on-premise - so Cloud certification would likely be a better future proofing plan, but there will absolutely be some companies within the industry you come across who are still on-premise. As someone who runs a large DC environment and hires staff, if a candidate had Cloud certification - that's still valuable. Sure, there's differences between the two products, but you've got the fundamentals and I'd expect someone with Cloud certs to be able to adapt quickly to on-prem (and vice versa).
