I don't get emails from Atlassian indicating issues that I am watching/assigned to etc. I have tried to figure out the reason but all in vain. The settings are fine. Any idea?
I just recently found out about the "Notification Helper". If you specify your user, an issue you know you should have received the notification for and why, it will tell you exactly why you should/shouldn't receive that notification and why. (knowing this info will help out greatly).

Check your spam folder. Otherwise, open a support ticket with atlassian support if your notification settings for the project are setup properly, it could be filtered by their outbound servers.
