Done column with multiple workflow statuses

 I do not have the ability to use the Jira parallel sprints and want to start the next sprint (development is complete). Assume I have several statuses mapped to the Scrum Agile board 'Done' column: QA Tested, Release Ready, Deployed.  The statuses are also part of the Workflow.  Assume all stories are in QA Tested status and I want to start the next sprint.  If I 'Close' the active sprint, can the team still change the individual user story statuses to Release Ready or Deployed next week? Does Closing the sprint prevent any further forward status changes following the workflow?

Using Jira 5.2.5 server based.

Dear @Rich Clarken,

as far as I can remember closing a sprint will not prevent from updating issue. But be sure that the issues have a resolution, otherwise they get moved to the next sprint.

Hope that is valid for your old Jira version - I have no 5.x to check.
