Duplicate Labels after adding a field to a screen

Guy Pontecorvo March 14, 2019

The issue layout for my SC-Scrum Default Issue Screen shows "Story Point Estimate" and "Story Points".  These appear correctly on the edit screen. On the side panel (see below) there are duplicate labels for "Story Point Estimate" but no story points. Any suggestions?

Hello Guy,

I hope you had a nice week!

Actually, one of the Story point Estimate fields that you are seeing is the Story Point field.

In the new issue view, we have a bug that is causing the Story Point field to be displayed wrongly:

Story points turns into Story point estimate in new issue view

Additionally, it is not a good practice to use both fields on the same project/screen. I know it is confusing, so please allow me to explain it better:

Today, your project templates are split into two types on JIRA Cloud: Classic and Next-gen projects.

Both projects use their own issue types and have different time tracking methods, which uses two different fields:

- On Classic projects, the estimation is measured on the Story Points field

- On Next-gen projects, the estimation is measured on the Story Point Estimate field

So let's suppose you have a Classic project and one the users added 3 story points to the Story Point Estimate field. it will not be counted in the board report.

That been said, I recommend you to use the correct field to avoid confusion since the project board will measure the estimation only for the correct field, depending on your project template:

Story Points on Classic Projects

Story Point Estimate on Next-gen projects

Let us know if this information answers your questions. In Advance, have a nice weekend!
