Edited field description not showing in Create or View

Hi. This is really frustrating and I hope the problem is just me doing something wrong...

I've edited the field description for a number of custom fields but the old descriptions still show in the Create and View screens. I've tried removing and re-adding the field on the screen but it still shows the old description.

This happened before and I ended up deleting and recreating the field. I can't do that this time as it's been used and therefore lots of data is held.

All suggestions appreciated, Des

Where did you change the field description, from custom fields? Note that changing the field description from the custom field view only affect new projects, in order to change if for existing projects you have to go to Project settings > Work items > Fields click on the pen icon and then change the description there.

Yes, and...to the suggestions from @Mikael Sandberg 

The symptom you describe can happen with a team-managed project when:

  • there are team-managed project (TMP) and company-managed project (CMP) fields with the same name
  • and, one has accidentally added the wrong one to the view
