Email handler foreach issue type

We have created an email handler for a specific project to log tickets via email for issue type accordingly. Is there any syntax to log a ticket via email? We have created an issue via email with a different subject line issue are created  as per the attached screenshot. 

Kindly suggested on the below points. 

 

1. Need to create only epic, story, and task via email.

2. Need to create a story for a specific epic and a story to task via email

We are not getting email email email notification for any issue created. Kindly suggest this

The documentation for configuring Jira to create issues from emails is here:

Generally speaking each email creates only one issue, and all emails sent to a given email address can create only one type of issue as specified in the email handler configuration, and the issues are created in one project as specified in the email handler configuration, when you are working with the native email handler.

Are you using the native email handler or a third party app that provides more email handling functionality?

With the native email handler, there is no special syntax for the email. The Subject of the email becomes the Summary of the issue. The content of the email becomes the Description for the issue. Depending on your configuration, the sender of the email is added as the Reporter, and people that are copied on the email may be added as Watchers of the issue. The native email handler does not give you a method to dynamically specify in the email the type of issue to create, nor a method to make the created issue a child of or linked to another issue.

We would need to know the detail of the email handler that you set up to provide more guidance.

Hi @Trudy Claspill  we are using native email handler and we have configured email handler for each issue type.If I want to create an epic only via email or story via email  can we accomplish with any internal settings without any add-ons

I'm not sure what you mean by "create an epic only via email or story via email".

Do you mean that the only way those issues should be created is via email? You don't want users to be able to create those types of issues directly through the UI?
