Empty sreens when using JIRA 7.4.2 on IE 11

Adrien Pham February 5, 2018

Hi,

One of my collegue have some problems when using JIRA on IE 11.

In fact, his home screen (before connexion) is empty, he only got the fields to connect. And any other screen is the same after being connected.

He can see our list of projects but when going on one of them, the screen is empty.

And when he click on CREATE, he only got simple fields to enter the project and the issue type with no suggestion .

The problem doesn't seems to be linked to his account since I've got no problem when using SU to check if I can recreate the issue. Moreover, he only got the problem on IE 11, not on chrome nor firefox.

Here's some screen to show you what I'm talking about.

Thanks for your help !

Adrien

Hi Adrien,

  • Does this affect any other browsers, e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge?
  • Do you have a web server/proxy in front of the environment? If so, you might want to try bypassing it to see if the problem is web server-related. Instructions for how to do this can be found here.

The first thing I would like you to do is try running IE11 in compatibility or safe modes as a test to see if it behaves differently.  If so you're able to view it normally in compatibility/safe mode clear all cache and cookies from your browser and test again.  If it still causes the issue but you know it works in Safe/Incognito/Compatibiliyt mode, disable all the browser add-ons and re-enable them one by one until you determine the culprit.

If the browser testing doesn't work please put JIRA in Safe Mode and test.  You may need to do this during a maintenance window so please be sure to let your users know some of the functionality of JIRA may be missing temporarily as Safe Mode disables any add-ons they may be using until you take JIRA out of Safe Mode.

If you're unable to reproduce the issue while JIRA is in Safe Mode, re-enable the add-ons one by one until you detemine which add-on is causing this behavior.

Please try the above tests above and let me know the results.

Cheers,

Branden

Hi Branden,

No it only affects IE11.

But weirdly, today it seems to work... Not the first time it happens though, but each time on a different user...

Well, I'll see if this anomaly come back. Anyway, thanks for your help, I'll keep this topic in mind the next time I've got this issue !

Cheers

Adrien
