Epic not showing up in backlog or Epic burndown chart

Steven Choiniere May 21, 2020

Hello,

We created a new scrum board within a project, but one specific epic isn't showing up in backlog, which also doesn't appear in our Epic Burndown Chart.

This is the filter query I'm using, I assume the problem is here:

project = HW AND "Epic Link" = HW-2384

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello @Steven Choiniere ,

It sounds like the Epic has been closed out via the epic Status Field being set to done.  Epic Status and Status are independent of one another, so if the Epic is in an open status but missing from the board and reports, in order for the Epic to disappear from the board, you must mark it as Done from the Agile board, even if the Epic is still in an active status once flagged as Done it is removed.

If you are using the New issue view the Epic Status is currently not integrated as a mappable field, as covered in the following Sub-task of the in the works improvements for the new issue view as part of JRACLOUD-70555, so you will need to disable the new issue view to check the status of the field:

To disable the new issue view:

  1. Click your profile Picture
  2. Select Personal Settings
  3. Select the Checkbox under the Jira Labs section to disable "New Jira issue view"

Once looking at the classic view, if the field is not visible on the epic use the Admin Helper "Where is my field?" option to get the field added to the screen.  and this is what to look for:

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions on making the field visible.

Regards,
Earl
