I'm a Jira admin, not a project manager, so I don't spend much time in boards. One of my PMs came to me today with a question about the epic name "bullets" in the backlog, and I'm hoping someone can answer.
I know that the color of the bullet is customizable, but what we can't figure out is why some of the bullets are bolded and others are in plain text. The interesting thing is, we changed the color of one of the epics that had been bold, and it changed the text to plain text - no other changes were made to the tickets themselves.
Can anyone clear this up? I'm assuming the bold text is supposed to be an indicator of something, but have no idea what.
Hello @Esther Strom, I think that this is part of the coloring. We have the ability to choose from 16 preset colors within Jira, and the formatting is likely connected to the color. This is most likely due to colors with low contrast to increase readability.
That sounds like it makes sense, but I don't think it's the case, as we have epics in other boards using the same color scheme that don't use the bold text for low contrast:
Also, the black on gray is the highest contrast, so it makes no sense that it would be the one that uses bold text above. If anything, I'd think it would be the darker colored backgrounds that would get bolder text.
