Hi there,
i am interested in knowing the total number of story points of one of our epics. For this I went into the "epic report" which directly gives me the sum of story points (on the right hand side).
When I then export all the items of this epic into excel and take the sum of all story points I get a sum that is twice the amount than in the epic report.
Is there a filter that I am not aware of in the epic report or how can this (high) gap be explained?
Many thanks in advance.
Best,
Tim
Hello timchribi9,
Thank you for getting in touch with Atlassian Community!
Just for us to better understand and help you with this issue, can you please let us know if when you export the items of the epic, if sub-tasks are also listed?
Regards,
Angélica
Hi @Angélica Luz,
no, subtasks are not listed. The export only includes stories (most of them with story points) of this epic. I get this export by clicking on "show these items in the
process navigator" (literally translated, my Jira is in German).
Best,
Tim

Has this been answered? FYI: A similar question was asked back in 2016 and the response was "you need a plug in" (see link below). This seems like a very obvious need: A report that can clearly show, by team, their Epics and the point sizing of those Epics, as well as the lead and cycle times.

Hello Corey,
Welcome to Community!
I saw that Tim didn't create the ticket, so I'm not sure if he was able to resolve the issue.
I remember that when I answered this question, I talked to the Jira Software team and they suggested to create a ticket, but since Tim didn't answer about the platform he was using, I couldn't create the ticket.
Since this question is from February, please raise a new one with more details about the problem you are facing or feel free to create a ticket with our support on support.atlassian.com.
Regards,
Angélica

I cannot create a ticket bc my org will not share the ID required to do so

Hi @Corey King
In order to create a ticket, the site-admin must create and share the ticket with you by adding your account as a request participant.
Searching your email, I didn't find any site where you are a user, so I can't tell who are the site admins.

Angélica
