Couldn't seem to find my exact issue, so taking to the forum to ask.
For some reason one of my Jira users cannot seem to create issues of type Epic. While in the create new issue view, he only sees the types Story, Subtask and Bug. When I do the same, I see these and also the Epic type.
This is in a kanban software project, no special settings or permissions.
This isn’t a typical situation but here is what I would check. This assumes you are an admin.
go to project > workflows and see if you have a separate workflow for Epic. Assuming so edit the workflow and check the create transition for a Validate step that limits who can create. Also inspect Condition steps.
I have only one workflow, which affects all issue types.
The user in question hadn't switched to the new jira layout, but I'm guessing that shouldn't be cause for such problems? That's about the only thing I can figure out that's different between our accounts.

@Johan Törnblom , well I'm scratching my head here because AFAIK you can't restrict the type of issue that can be created by a user. There is something here but I can't lay my finger on it at the moment. You might wish to open a ticket w/ Atlassian support

Yeah, I feel like I'm going crazy over this one :) Gonna have a face-to-face with the user this friday, if the problem persists I'll open a ticket.
Thank you for your assistance!

FYI, using the new UI seems to have resolved the issue. Not sure what to make of it, but there it is.

that is weird. and if you go back to old view the issue returns? if so i would suggest reporting the issue to Atlassian Support.

If I can verify it again I will create a ticket. Thanks for helping out!
