Epics and stories nested order

I am setting up a project where I want "Epics" to have the semantic meaning of "sub-project" and stories the high-level parts of each sub-project. So far so good. I hope.

The problem arises, when I try to prioritize the backlog. I want the projects (i.e. Epics) to be sorted by priorities, and inside each Epic I want to prioritize the stories. In a way, I want to have a nested sorting. 

Is it achievable in JIRA? Does it make sense?

This is not possible with JIRA OOTB. Have you tried to use Structure add-on?
