Epics created in Roadmap

While researching Roadmap, I saw the following statement on the Atlassian documentation page (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/roadmap-957979308.html)

To create an epic, click the + in the first column of the roadmap. Note that epics will only display on the Roadmap, and won't display on your project's Board or Backlog.

Am I reading correctly that if I create an epic on the roadmap, I won't be able to see it anywhere else in JIRA (and probably vice versa)? This seems really odd. Would this mean that I would have to create duplicate epics for everything: one for the roadmap and one for Backlog/Board?

Thanks!

Hello,

That is right. It will not be displayed in the Board or Backlog. You do not need to create new epics from the Board or Backlog. You just link issues in the board or backlog to the Epics, created in the RoadMap.

Thanks, @Alexey Matveev. But in this case, won't the issues on my board look orphaned?

Hello,

are there any plannings of adding this feature ? It is really odd to create an issue in my project's Board and a second epic in my project's Roadmap and link them together !

Kind regards

Bjoern
