Epics on Kanban board

Hi

Do you know if there is a way to completely take epics out of the KanBan board in a Jira Software project that has the backlog disabled?

I know I can show epics as swimlanes, it's just that those epics will be there forever as issues will be added under them as an ongoing operation so I am more keen to only see the tasks and subtasks on the kanban board and not the epics.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks, community!

Hi @Rocsana Chereches

You can change the Board filter to (In this case you will not have Epic issue data included in the reports)

project = KBP AND issuetype != "Epic" ORDER BY Rank ASC

If you don't like epics at all, and not using it, remove it from the projects' issue type scheme

Let me know if you have any queries

Thanks,
Pramodh

@Pramodh M 's suggestion will work for a Company Managed project. Are you working with a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

Hi both,

I am on a company managed project, however, I do not want to delete the epics. we use them in order to keep track of what work goes where (we use epics to define departments).

I will need them in the reports, but I wanted to find a way to not show them on the Kanban board ..which I think I did. I am visualising the swim lanes as epics now and that seems to provide some structure while removing epics as tickets..is the best solution I found.

If you have other ways of getting rid of epics as tickets, let me know as I would appreciate the input!
