Error: In Portfolio, the status of a release is not the same as in the project itself.

Andrea Nelson February 22, 2019

When I compare the "Releases" page in Portfolio to the "Releases" page in my project, the status of the project is not the same. E.g. in my project the status is 4/5 tasks are green/ done, yet in Portfolio the same release is marked as empty / white/ not a single task is done.

Other project releases are displayed correctly in our Portfolio, though.

I cannot find a difference between projects that do and that don´t display correctly in Portfolio.

Hi Andrea,

Portfolio is designed as a forward looking application and is generally configured to ignore past and completed work items as they are not necessary to define a schedule of what still need to be done over what has been completed unless the allocated range is expanded to include these items.

From what you have described it sounds like the completed issues are not showing up in the plan details because either the "Schedule Range" or "Completion Date" is set more restrictive than the other plans you have.

On the Plan Select the "More" dropdown in the Filter menus and choose "Completion Date" and "Schedule Range" to display the filter settings and see if these are set to exclude the items in question based on the dates selected.  My guess is that the Completion date is set to Current Sprint, if you expand that to last 30 days or a custom range the issues should show up as completed items on your release.

Regards,
Earl
