Error Migrating Server to Cloud

Davide Ricardo November 12, 2019

Hello guys,

I'm trying to migrate my self-hosted instance to cloud and I got the following error when importing data (zip):

Error importing data: cloud.atlassian.logmon.laas.api.PrivacySafeException: Privacy-safe boxing of a com.atlassian.jira.bc.dataimport.identity.UsersImportService$WrappingCrowdException

I have also a backup of the media (logos, avatar, attachments), but I could not achieve that step yet.

I've also some other projects that I would like to import one-by-one from other instance, is that possible?

Appreciate your support.

Thanks.

Regards,

Davide Ricardo

Hi there,

In case you run into this error message while performing a site import in the Jira cloud, please refer to the following KB for additional guidance:

We compiled some checks and verifications you can try before attempting a new import. We hope that helps.

Hello,

back to this topic.. we really need to migrate our data to the cloud. it's very urgent..

Currently, we cannot access our cloud account (as you can see in the image attached).

We've 10 active users on our self-hosted solution.

We've around 15 projects (I do not know by heart because our server just went down and now we cannot access JIRA or any other service.. just have access to raw files).

Perhaps it's better to use the support of a partner because this is not being efficient.

(it's my concern about your support... many tickets and wiki documentation... that does not help and is not efficient in specific cases).

Are you using some tool to migrate ?

Also can you share a larger information of your log message please ?

Davide Ricardo November 12, 2019

Hello Vickey,

I was following this article: https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/migrate-from-jira-server-to-jira-cloud-972349848.html

The issue came on the step 4.6 - after hit run import.

The log message is the one provided above.

The migration is being done on the cloud side by uploading the backups required.

Thanks for your time.

Ricardo,

I am not quite sure about the exact error message but just to ask - have you created all the prerequisites before starting the import ?

Do the required users exists - did you agree to merge or overrides users in cloud and backup jira ?

Davide Ricardo November 12, 2019

Hi Vickey,

I've created the backup from the jira server which generated a zip file.

And then created the data.zip with the logos, avatars and attachments.

The option was "override users".

Thanks.
