Error when copying test cases from Functional testing cycle to End to End Testing Cycle

 I have a user that is trying to move test cases from functional testing cycle to End to End testing cycle.  Here is their request:

'Copying the testcases from functional to end to end testing cycle, unselect the option as "Clear execution cycle", but then the execution status remains the same. Its not getting cleared up when we copy from one test cycle to another.'

They don't belong to another project.  The user has been able to move the test cases in the past; this is the first time that she was not able to move them.  What should the user do instead?
