I've installed other apps successfully so why am I having problems with this one? We are also evaluating Portfolio. Could there be a conflict between the two?

There shouldn't be an issue here.
There could be various reasons - I would suggest contacting the vendor for assistance. See their contact information on their Marketplace support page
Also worth checking this answer and looking at the part around migrations if this applies to your instance.
