Explaining Prototyping to the Business

I am in the process of being more business facing and need to be able to quickly elaborate different changes and operations.

One I am just tackling is Prototyping.

When we have time for the team they prototype tickets for future sprints. Being that they aren't stories or tasks or have some kind of value based metric attached to this piece of time I want to here what some approaches are when the business asks what is occurring in this time.
