Export JIRA project with 100,000 issues

Hi Team,

Has any of you encountered a situation to export / import a JIRA project with ~ 100000 issues? I know it sounds weird, however as it is a SD project, this number.

I tried this using the Configuration Manager app but somehow have not been successful so far. Export gets through, but the import gets stuck although I increased the proxy timeout.

I prefer using the UI, therefore having the environment cloning as a last resort.

Looking forward to your suggestions,

Thanks & Regards,

Janaki.

Hi @Janakiraman S

I recently imported a project around the same number of issues using Jira's native Project Import feature.

A few steps to get there:

  • Generate an XML backup from the source instance
  • Copy the attachments folder of the project
  • Move the XML backup and to JIRA_HOME/import in the target instance
  • Move the attachment folder to JIRA_HOME/import/attachments in the target instance
  • Create a backup of your target instance!!!
  • Follow the steps on  https://BASE_URL/secure/admin/ProjectImportSelectBackup!default.jspa to import the project's issues and attachments.

It took a couple of hours but was completed successfuly.
