Export to Excel CSV - inconsistent filtering

I exported a backlog for my project to EXCEL CSV using a custom filter and choose "(filter fields)".  Very nice, very intuitive.  It only exported the fields I specify in the filter.

Then I tried to do exactly the same thing, using the same filter on another project.  That option is now Gone!  Instead it changes to "(my defaults)".  What is going on?

I want to export one or more projects using the fields I setup in the filter NOT my defaults.

Is this a bug that needs to be fixed or am I doing something wrong??

Hi @John Robbins,

There is something strange about your statement:

Then I tried to do exactly the same thing, using the same filter on another project.

That is utterly impossible. A filter is a search statement that returns a list of issues. You can save that search (hit save and give it a name) and the columns you select can then be saved with that specific filter.

When you try to do the same in another project, that becomes a different filter by definition (as you select a different set of issues). You need to save that selection as another filter and define the columns you need before you can include them in the export as you are trying to do.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info but that doesn't address my issue.  I'm not trying to do the same thing in another project.  I'm using the same filter just changing the criteria to include more than 1 project.

What is weird, I can include any project in that filter and I see nothing in the filter or the details of the filter that tie it to a project.  Where would I see that?

I'm using the exact same filter, I just filter on a different set of projects.  First, Project 1 and that has the right export options.  Change the filter to include Project 1 and Project 2, results are correct, export options are different.  Same Filter, just modified to return different results.

Note: I tried to attach a document with screen shots of the filter and the behavior but I don't see that option in this forum. I tried to paste in the screen shots and that's not allowed either.  Only the text comes in.

Why does the filter allow me to choose any project and there's no indication I can see that says this filter belongs to a specific project?  The results are returned exactly as expected EXCEPT the Export options have changed to make it unusable.

If what you are saying is the case, Jira has very poorly designed filters and it makes no sense to me.

Also, I can be in any project and can choose any filter.  This is the first time I've ever heard that a filter is tied to a project.
